Day 8 - Afternoon Birding
Feb. 22 - This area is so dry, I don't see how anything can grow here. The good folks who live here endured three successive hurricanes last fall and are still repairing damaged homes and fields. The house with the tractor in front seemed to be getting a new roof, while the 2 houses in the other photo seemed to have fared better. We were in what seemed to be the foothill area of the Sierra de Cubitas, a not-too-tall mountain range. Weather was, as you can see, sunny with some friendly-looking clouds, slight breezes and warm to hot. We encountered a young man on a horse who was mildly interested in what we were looking at, but he basically kept to himself.
